FORMER British Superbike champion Ian Simpson is to race at the North West
200 on 17 May a full decade after he last won there.

The 37-year-old will ride for the DM Yamaha Racing team, run by the
top-flight pairing of Simpson's former rivals Iain Duffus and Brian Morrison.
Simpson will compete in both of the Superstock and Superbike classes.
Simpson won five North West races between 1995 and 1998, he took the BSB crown in
1994.

"Ian's manager Iain Duffus has informed me that Ian has not been in complete
retirement and took part in some racing last season," said North West clerk
of the course Mervyn Whyte.

He added: "He has competed in some 24-hour events and all three are looking
forward to returning to the North West on the Yamaha R1."
