PRESIDENT AND CEO of the Honda Corportation, Takeo Fukui, has confirmed Honda will remain in MotoGP in 2009.

His announcement was made at an end of year speech, in which Fukui quashed rumours of Honda's possible withdrawal from racing's premier class. The rumours have been circulating the racing world since the company's recent decision to quit F1.

Mr Fukui went on to outline Honda's future plans in the face of global economic recession. He also talked on the subject of electric motorcycles, saying the company will be producing battery powered bikes for sale by the start of 2011 - the same plans unearthed by Visordown over a month ago.
