LAST MONTH was the first to tell about the top secret plans to bring Aprilia into the BSB championship for 2010, now according to the same sources the deal to bring BMW into the series has been finalised.

The push to bring the S1000RR racebike into the domestic championship has recently been a double boost. On Wednesday of this week the BMW factory announced that it was pulling out of F1 from the end of 2009, freeing up a lot of development and manufacturing money within the organisation.

Secondly, BMW-favoured rider Richard Cooper, the 26-year-old, who has ridden for the factory in World Endurance events, has burst onto the BSB scene with his history-making performance at Mallory Park a fortnight ago, where he became the first ever privateer to lead a BSB race after qualifying his three year old Yamaha on the front row of the grid.
