21st Century Ducati Hypermono concept

Inspired by the original 1993 Supermono designed by Pierre Terblanche

THIS DUCATI Hypermono concept has been produced by Italian design house, Sak Art in the hope that it will gain popularity and Ducati will seriously consider a modern day Supermono.

Inspired by the road-legal Supermono Strada by Alistair Wager and the original Supermono designed by Pierre Terblanche in 1993

This modern concept is based around the original Supermono engine with a desmodromic four-valve cylinder head with a 549cc capacity pushing out 80bhp in a 130kg package. Essentially the Hypermono is based on the chassis of a Monster. Sak Art say their mission: 'is to create a harsh, challenging, stimulating bike designed to give the rider the nearest thing possible to a genuine motorcycle racer.'

The fairings and tank would be carbon fibre to save weight. The front brakes comprise of twin 305mm discs replacing the earlier size of 280mm on the original bike with four-piston radial-mount Brembo callipers. The Hypermono rides on 17-inch Marchesini wheels, shod with 120/60 (front) and 180/55 (rear). The swinging arm is similar to that found on the new Monster.

Sak have created the Hypermono concept with five different paint-schemes.

The third L.E. is a dedicate to Ducati 175 F3. This bike won a mass of races between the ‘50s and ‘60s, like the Franco Farnè’s  Daytona victory in 1959. But this time we want to show respect to Francesco Villa, winner with 175 F3  in Monza for 3 consecutive years ’58-’59-‘60. The chromatic style respect the original ’58 bike with number 16.

Sak Art's comments on this livery: This one is special  because we want to celebrate the first victory of a Ducati on the Isle of Man TT. It was a Ducati 250 riding by Mike Rogers in 1969. We all remember the great Mike “the bike” Hailwood victory in the ’79 TT with a Ducati 900 and the various wins by Tony Rutter in the 80’s with the Ducati TT2. But the first victory was this one on ’69 Sport Production race. 40 years later, and 15 years later the last win on the “mountain” by Robert Holden with a Supermono, we dress our Hypermono with a graphic livery based on the official colours and logo of the IOM TT.

Sak Art's comments on this livery: “DESMO CORSA  1970-2010” L.E. is a tribute to the Ducati Mono 450. This bike dominate the “mountain championships” in Italy on the early ‘70s. The livery is based on the two-colour white/red with yellow number tables and a big Ducati logo on the tank. We want to remember 40 years later the heroes of the “climb races” like Priamo Marchetti, he wins many times the incredible Saline-Volterra in the 70’s, Augusto Brettoni and Marcello Peruzzi.

Sak Art's comments on this livery: The Orange/Black Vintage special edition put forward again the ‘70s Ducati  livery like the Mono 350, with the orange that substitute the red, also the logos is of the same period. The chassis is in black as well as the number tables.
