The new Yamaha Tracer 7 line for 2022 features new brakes, refined suspension, updated ergonomics and of course new colours.

While the highlight of the 2023 sports tourer range from Yamaha was certainly the radar-equipped Tracer 9 GT+, there have also been updates to the Tracer 7 range.

For 2023, the Tracer 7 and Tracer 7 GT return as the only models in Yamaha’s sports touring line-up to use the 690cc CP2 twin-cylinder engine, while the Tracer 9 series and Niken GT both use the 890cc CP3 triple.

That is not a surprise, of course, and while the CP2 engine remains the same as in the past for 2023, the Tracer 7 and, in particular, the Tracer 7 GT surround that motor with an updated package.

There are three major updates for the Tracer 7 and GT in 2023, with changes to the brakes, suspension, and cockpit.

Firstly, the brakes have been upgraded to 298mm dual front discs designed for use both in the city and out in the country. Meanwhile, the suspension updates are intended to provide a better balance, and now feature unified adjustability for easier set-up.

Then, in the cockpit, the 2023 Tracer 7 series features a new five-inch TFT colour display which itself features two different theme choices: “Street” and “Touring”. Touring offers a more functional display, while the Street option is more stylish.

The TFT display will be equipped with a Communication Control Unit which means both the Tracer 7 and GT will be able to connect to the MyRide app via Bluetooth.

Finally, the ergonomics of the switches on both motorcycles has been refined.

2023 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT exclusive features

There are also a number of new additions for 2023 that will be available only on the Tracer 7 GT.

Firstly, the Tracer 7 GT will be available with side cases offering 20 litres of storage capacity and available themselves in a range of colours.

Furthermore, the touring screen for the GT is 92mm taller and 70mm wider than before, offering greater protection from the elements, and is made from “unbreakable and scratch-resistant polycarbonate,” Yamaha says.

Adding further to the GT’s touring credentials is the seat, which is made from a dual-material skin and features different foam density in different parts of the seat.

Finally, the Tracer 7 GT’s rear carrier is now designed to offer more rigidity and frame stiffness. Yamaha says, “As an extra benefit the passenger will have improved grip while sitting on the pillion position.”

The 2023 Yamaha Tracer 7 will be available in “Midnight Black”, “Icon Performance”, and “Redline”; while the 2023 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT will be available in “Icon Performance”, “Phantom Blue”, and “Midnight Black” with “GT” graphics.
