Touring bike sales down 45 per cent

BMW R1200RT holds steady as sales figures plummet compared to October 2009

SALES OF TOURING bikes dropped like a lead brick in October 2010, down a staggering 45.4 per cent on the same period in 2009.

BMW's R1200RT topped the figures, recording a measly 39 sales last month; 160 machines were sold in the sector, compared to 293 registrations in October 2009.

Other depressed markets include: Custom - down 26 per cent; naked - down 16.7 per cent and 'unspecified' which fell 20.4 per cent compared to October 2009.
