BMW MOTORRAD sold over a thousand R 1200 GS motorcycles in the first half of this year, which not only made it the top selling adventure-sports bike in the UK, but also the UK's best-selling bike in the over 125cc sector.
With 453 sales to it's name, the air-cooled R 1200 GS Adventure takes second place in the adventure-sports market.
BMW Motorrad are well known for their adventure motorcycles and strong sales of the F 800 GS and F 700 GS, in addition to their G 650 GS and G 650 GS Sertao (both suitable for new A2 licence holders) have seen the German company claim 30% of the overall adventure sector sales.
In the touring market, BMW Motorrad hold 4 out of the 5 top sellers with their F 800 GT in the number 1 spot with 299 sold in the first six months of 2013. BMW Motorrad now has a 50% market share of the touring sector and overall sales have increased by 6% over the same period compared to last year.
The Marketing Manager for BMW Motorrad UK Lee Nicholls said, “We are very pleased to be showing growth of both market share and total sales, especially in a challenging market. Strong sales of models like BMW’s new HP4 supersports bike and our dominance of the traditionally strong touring and adventure-sports sectors, helping to increase our overall market share once again."
Nicholls continues, "Not only have a number of existing motorcycle franchises shown their faith in the brand by opening additional dealerships in new locations, but some of our leading car dealerships are investing in BMW Motorrad by building brand new motorcycle showrooms."
