JESSICA DUNN, a design graduate from Australia has designed the world’s first folding helmet called the Proteus.
Intended to make it easier for commuters to carry their helmet with them, the simple design folds to fit inside a rucksack.
The design has been short-listed for the James Dyson Award for Innovation, which carries a £10,000 prize for the winner to help with development of their product.
The idea came to her whilst on holiday in Indonesia when she had was faced with wearing damaged helmets or no helmets at all.
The award will be announced on Friday 22 July 2011 in Melbourne.
