DRIVING STANDARDS Agency (DSA) - the governing body for all driver and rider testing - is looking at using Oxford United football club's car park to conduct the new-style motorcycle test.

The test, which will be introduced on the 29th September 2008, involves various manouevres that need conducting on a large, well surfaced area - something DSA have struggled to find nationwide.

Following an announcement in April that test centres in Banbury and Oxford are to close, the Driving Standards Agency said it had been unable to find a suitable site for a new centre in Oxfordshire.

But an article in the Oxford Mail claims DSA have now opened negotiations with Firoka, the stadium's owners, about the possibility of using its car park.

A DSA spokesman said: "We have been unable to find a suitable site to build a multi-purpose test centre in Oxfordshire, despite a four-year search.

"Ten sites have been assessed but failed to meet our criteria.

"In the meantime, the DSA is negotiating with a view to offering a motorcycle test centre service three days a week in the car park."

Who else thinks the new test idea is one massive ill-thought out cock-up?
