COLIN Seeley sadly passed away in 2020, leaving behind him a legacy of bikes, race wins and engineering innovation that will stand the test of time.

Aside from the racing though, he also left behind a family, and one of his family members is looking to cement the Seeley name into the history books. Sammy Colin Seeey is the grandson of the revered racer and frame builder, but he’s also a filmmaker and is beginning to lay the foundations of a documentary about his grandfather’s life on two wheels.

The film will be written and directed by Sammy, and he has access to a treasure trove of never seen footage, filmed both at the races Colin took part in and away from the track, at home and while on holiday. Not long after the footage was handed to Sammy, Colin began to fall ill but was still happy to sit down and chat on-camera with his grandson about the triumphs and the tragedies that were an intrinsic part of racing motorcycles in the post-war years.

And while that may sound like all the parts are in place to make the film, it’s not quite that simple, and that’s where the motorcycling public comes in. Sammy has started a GoFundMe page, to help pay for the film’s creation and completion. And he’s asking for any donations, big or small, to help ensure the movie can be shared with the public.

There is also a potential sweetener for one lucky donator, as a Seeley G50 is being restored by a team of specialists, with one person set to be selected once the funding target is reached to become the lucky owner of a very special machine.

You can find out more about the film on the official GoFundMe page, along with a link to make a donation yourself.
