Auction Includes All You Need to Set Up a Motorbike Dealership

A liquidation auction for a KTM and Harley-Davidson dealership seems to have everything you’d need to start your own bike shop

Auction Includes All You Need to Set Up a Motorbike Dealership

A motorcycle dealership has (sadly) gone into liquidation, leaving pretty much every business asset going under the hammer.

The auction, Lambert Smith Hampton, opened on 8 March and closes on 18 April 2024. Potential buyers can book a viewing of the lots on offer, although you’ll need to be free on 16 April as that is the only day viewing can take place.

The auction offers a fairly rare and unique opportunity to purchase almost all of the things you’d need to either set up a brand-new bike dealership or expand an existing business. And when we say everything, we really mean it. There are 17 bikes from the brands KTM, Harley-Davidson and Indian, along with two vans, tools, spares, workshop equipment and lots and lots of branded merchandise. There’s even a Red Bull-branded drinks fridge, which would be the ultimate way to keep your out-of-date milk cool in the garage!

We’ve tried to trawl the entire auction, but it’s pretty big, so here are some headline items we’d buy - if only our other halves would let us…

Restored 1942 Harley-Davidson WLA 750

The WLA might not be a ‘holy grail’ Harley-Davidson model, but it’s still a sweet bike that is likely never going to go down in value. This example was restored by Bill Grady at the Harley Trading Post, and while it isn’t a concourse resto job (having had some contemporary parts added), with just a £6,000 starting price it’s hard to not want to drop a speculative bid on it.

2023 KTM Super Duke 1290 R Evo

Naked bikes don’t get much more bonkers than the much-loved Super Duke 1290, but if you need a little bit more lunacy from you naked, how about this 2023 Super Duke 1290 R Evo with a starting price of just £6,000?

Kini signed rally helmet

There’s a claimed £500,000 worth of riding kit and clothing in this sale, so we can’t trawl it all, but how about this, a signed Kini Dakar-style off-road lid? No idea who has squiggled on it though, bonus points if you do. This has a £110 starting bid!

Stainless steel workbench

Nothing says ‘full factory’ like a stainless steel workbench, and with three shelves, acres of workspace and a tiny £10 starting bid, this could be the perfect way to spruce up your garage/workshop/kitchen.

Fancy wasting your lunchtime looking at things you want but don't need? Thought so, check out the full auction on the LSH auction website here.
