Lorenzo: “60% is enough for me to race in France''

Injured MotoGP hard man says he's up for Le Mans Grand Prix

HE MAY only be 21, he may have taken the MotoGP world by storm this year and he may be suffering with two broken ankles after that horrible highside in China - but Jorge Lorenzo says that he thinks he will be racing next weekend in France.

After finishing in fourth place in China after the huge crash, Lorenzo travelled to Barcelona to see Dr Xavier Mir, at Barcelona´s Institut Universitari Dexeus (the man who oversaw his earlier operation to combat arm-pump). Mir confirmed that the Spaniard had suffered a fracture of the right astragalus (the bone that articulates with the tibia, fibula, calcaneus, and navicular) and a broken ligament in the left ankle.

Lorenzo, who was due to see Mir again last night for a further check up, said: “I´m confident my ankles will get better and I´m sure I´ll be able to race at Le Mans. I really want to be there racing, it´s the only thing I´m thinking about at the moment. I´m sure I can make it with a lot of motivation.

“Hopefully the fracture is healing nicely and I´m fit for the next Grand Prix. Of course, I won´t be 100% fit but at least at 60% for sure. It should be enough to ride again.”

Double hard.
