FINALLY IT seems as though the life of a biker means something - with the news that a 49-year old man from San Jose in the States has been sentenced to 35 years inside for his part in a crash that killed a young motorcyclist.
Mark Henderson was found guilty of carrying out second-degree murder in November after it emerged he crashed his pick-up truck into a motorcycle driven by 19-year-old Rebecca Seibenmorgen in 2005.
Judge Joseph Scott denied defence attorney John Halley's plea to strike a previous conviction Henderson had for a 1983 assault with a deadly weapon. By counting the 2005 crash as Henderson's second strike, the statutory jail term was doubled from 15 to 30 years to life. An additional five-year consecutive sentence was added on for multiple felonies that cause bodily harm to others, according to Deputy District Attorney Sean Gallagher.
