TOM Sykes gave British WSB fans the perfect weekend at Donington Park, taking pole position, the lap record and both race wins. It was the first double victory for the ever-smiling Kawasaki rider, who is now just four points from the top of the championship standings. The chasing pack headed up by Marco Melandri and the Factory Aprilia pairing of Eugene Laverty and Sylvian Guintoli had no answer to the Yorkshireman’s blistering pace, as they shared the remaining podium places in both races under perfect conditions at the Leicestershire circuit.
It was a British rider out in front in the World Supersport race also, as Sam Lowes stormed to victory by an impressive 12 seconds from main championship rival Kenan Sofuoglu. The tide has undoubtedly turned in the British favour in both classes, as the championship rolls on to Portimao in two weeks' time.
