Checa and Ducati lead championship standings after the first round at Phillip Island

Taking complete control of the two races at Phillip Island sees Carlos Checa topping the championship standings after the first round.

In a long career spanning 500GP, MotoGP and World Superbike, the results of the weekend mark the first time that Checa has lead a series.

Despite Ducati pulling their factory effort from the WSB championship the Italian manufacturer have still continued to make an impressive on the series, leaving Phillip Island at the top of the manufacturers' table.
