IF YOU WATCHED the final round of the 2010 World Superbike Championship from Magny-Cours then you probably saw the podium spat between newly-crowned WSB champion Max Biaggi and 2011 MotoGP rookie Cal Crutchlow.

The pair had just been embroiled in one of the most thrilling races of the season, with Biaggi stealing the win by a mere 0.087s, when a scuffle broke out on the podium between the Italian and British riders.

Insisting the matter is now behind him, Crutchlow told Crash.net he believed the needle between the pair started well before the podium celebrations:

“Max does that to other riders to try to play with their minds,” stated the 24-year-old. “He's done it to Jonathan Rea, Leon Haslam, Carlos Checa, everybody in the paddock. He even did it to Valentino Rossi – Valentino told me himself at Brno this year – but it didn't faze me, and I did it back to him in practice. That was it – and that wasn't what the champagne incident stemmed from."

Perhaps Max had been eyeing up the ride at Tech 3 Yamaha?

to be honest,

i think it was 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other.

when Max beat cal in race two after the race Cal had some very un sporting things to say about max and aprilia, something about if he had max's bike he would of fucked off on it.

truth is ... in race 2 max did the business and it cooked Cals head

and then on the podium max was being a big girls blowse because he was feeling rough

Remember Max's first sbk podium? he got so excited he sprayed Bayliss and the other place getter with the champagne... except it was the first race and they would have been all sticky for the second race! Donut!

The actual reason was because of the death, prior to the race, of Alberto Fantini who used to be Race Director for WSBK, they were apparently told not to celebrate on the podium as a mark of respect, hence Biaggi and the other rider on the podium didn't celebrate.
Cal sadly did and Biaggi reprimanded him for it ... apparently.

If thats the case, either Crutchlow is an ignoramus for celebrating or the message was lost in translation.

Biaggi has a history of being an irritating little prick, thats not to say Crutchlow is a saint - a clash of personalities perhaps?
