FORMER MOTOGP star Chris Vermeulen took to Cartegena racetrack on his 2010 Kawasaki ZX-10R in a two-day test, earlier this week.
The former World Supersport Champion and WSBK runner-up rider was pleased with the two-day test, having worked with the full complement of the team's technicians and mechanics for the first time.
“It was all good and our first real time on the bike to get familiar with it. It was also the first time working with the mechanics and engineers from the team. That side also went well; the team seemed to gel and they are all excited about the future, said Vermeulen. "They are all good guys and that side worked well too.”
The Aussie said the aim of the test was to get some stock settings and develope a strong base for the bike, rather than trying to set super-quick laps:
“Lap time wise, according to most people, we did reasonably well, but we were not trying to go fast. We were just making changes on the bike and understanding how it was going to react to those changes. Electronics, suspension, chassis and engine, all that kind of stuff.”
It was Vermeulen's first ride at Cartegena. The Aussie will be partnered by British rider Tom Sykes in 2010.
