FORMER MOTOGP man Makoto Tamada will make a return to World Superbike action for the second round of the 2010 season at Portimao, riding for the Reitwagen BMW team.
Tamada will take the place of Roland Resch, after the Austrian broke his collarbone at the opening round of the season in Australia.
Tamada will test the S1000RR BMW at Jerez this week (22 – 23 March) and will go on to partner Andrew Pitt over the three-day race weekend with BMW at Portimao.
“I am grateful to Team Reitwagen BMW for giving me this opportunity to race with them in Portimao. Although this will be my first time racing a BMW, I have seen what it can do and am confident that I can ride it at its full potential,” said Tamada.
Tamada will only race with BMW for the single event and will make his planned return to WSB with Pro Ride Honda later in the season.
