TWO-TIME World Supersport Champion Andrew Pitt will make a return to World Superbikes in 2010, having signed a two-year deal with Reitwagen Motorsport, riding a privateer BMW S1000RR.
Aussie Pitt will partner Austrian rider Roland Resch in the newly-formed squad, after a four-year sabbatical from the WSB scene.
The team, headed by Alfred Inzinger, has secured the services of Johan Stigefelt of Stiggy Honda fame, who recently announced his squad would not be competing in World Superbikes in 2010.
Pitt, a former WSB race winner with Yamaha, said:
“After four years I'm very happy to be back in World Superbikes and excited about riding for such a dedicated and passionate team.
“I'm looking forward to the challenge of a new bike,” he added. “I've been working hard on my fitness and I'm more motivated than ever.”
Earlier this week, Visordown linked Matt Mladin to the vacant BMW slot, after our BSB man was tipped off by a team insider. Our man says Mladin, a multiple AMA Superbike champ, is still considering other options in WSB for 2010.
