Lowes aiming to follow Crutchlow's footsteps

Reigning British Supersport Champion aiming to follow in Cal Crutchlow's footsteps

The 2010 British Supersport Champion Sam Lowes has been advised to mirror the career of the Cal Crutchlow to accomplish his MotoGP ambitions.

Speaking to thisislincolnshire.co.uk Lowes said: “As a rider, you’ve got to believe you can get there [MotoGP] – it’s every rider’s dream and I’ll do everything I can to do it.”

"If you're good enough you can make it, you've just got to work hard towards it. It doesn't matter what nationality you are" continued the reigning British Supersport Champion.

For 2011 Lowes is progressing to World Supersport paddock to join fellow Brit James Ellison and Portuguese rider Miguel Praia in the Parkalgar Honda WSS team.

Simon Buckmaster, who runs the Parkalgar squad, believes Lowes career would benefit by following in Crutchlow’s footsteps:

"Crutchlow’s been a British Supersport champion, he's been in a winner in British Superbikes and he's won the World Supersport Championship. He's also won in World Superbikes and has now gone up to MotoGP,” said Buckmaster. "Cal's progression and determination is a shining example for Sam Lowes to follow.”

After moving to Yamaha in WSB from the Parkalgar WSS team, Buckmaster is touting Eugene Laverty as the next rider to transfer from the World Superbike paddock to MotoGP. Commenting on his former rider he said: “If Eugene has a good year, there's every chance he could get a MotoGP ride soon.”

"Crutchlow and Laverty evolved from the British Championship quite quickly. The British Championship is a great series and a great breeding ground. Crutchlow's done it, Laverty is on his way to doing it. If you're good enough, there is proof that you can do it.” Buckmaster concluded, “If you're great rider and you take your chances when you get them, it can be done."
