EUGENE LAVERTY ended the three-day test at Portimao at the top of the timesheets and set an unofficial lap record on his factory Aprilia.

The final day, however saw Laverty take the top spot ahead of new team-mate Max Biaggi and setting an unofficial lap record of 1:42.7, a fraction ahead of the fastest time held by his Aprilia team-mate.

Following the two Aprilia's was a trio of BMWs, lead by Italian Ayrton Badovini then the factory pair of Leon Haslam and Marco Melandri. Haslam was able to set a lap time quicker than Laverty, but on qualifying tyres whereas the Aprilia riders managed their times solely on race compounds.

Chaz Davies completed his first official test on the ParkinGO Aprilia, finishing in a positive sixth place ahead of Leon Camier on the Crescent Suzuki. Camier's team-mate John Hopkins was not in attendance at the test, the American is currently recuperating from surgery. British Supersport champion Alastair Seeley rode in his place.

Over the three-day it was a contest between Laverty and Leon Haslam, with the BMW rider leading the first two days of testing at the Portuguese circuit.

Overall unofficial times (with qualifying tyre times in brackets):

1. Eugene Laverty Aprilia 1'42.7;
2. Max Biaggi Aprilia 1'42.8;
3. Ayrton Badovini BMW 1'43.1 (1'42.5);
4. Leon Haslam BMW 1'43.1 (1'42.2);
5. Marco Melandri BMW 1'43.1 (1'42.4);
6. Chaz Davies Aprilia 1'43.2;
7. Leon Camier Suzuki 1'43.8;
8. Michel Fabrizio BMW 1'43.9 (1'43.3);
9. Alastair Seeley Suzuki 1'44.1 (1'43.5).
