JOAN LASCORZ remains sedated in an intensive care unit following the serious crash during testing at Imola.

In the latest statement released by the Kawasaki team it was said that doctors began to wake Lascorz on Friday, but on Saturday decided to sedate him again as there was mucus still present on his lungs and the Spaniard became agitated and was trying to move around. Doctors will keep him asleep for another four days until his lungs are completely clear of the mucus.

Until he is brought out of sedation doctors and neurologists are able to diagnose Lascorz, the extent of his injury and the chances of his recovery cannot be established.

The press statement continued: “Joan's family, the team and the whole Provec Kawasaki family would like to give their thanks for the thousands of messages of support received and the interest expressed by other riders, friends, media and fans.

“The next release from the team will only be issued when there is some up-to-date news about the health of Joan Lascorz.

“Meanwhile, from today, Joan Lascorz's Facebook profile will carry updates about his situation every morning.”

I hope this all goes well, further updates say he should be able to get use of his hands. I hope he gets a good recovery though, this is the horrible side of biking we all try and avoid.
