John Hopkins could miss the next round at Donington Park after breaking his right foot at Monza

JOHN HOPKINS has suffered another career setback after breaking his right foot in the opening race at Monza.

The Crescent Fixi Suzuki rider suffered a huge high-side after only a couple of laps in the opening race.

Immediately after the crash the American was taken for an X-ray, which revealed a fracture in his foot along with some torn muscles in his left hip.

“That was not a good weekend," said Hopper. "I got pretty banged up in the first race crash and damaged my left hip and broke a bone in my right foot. I don’t know what happened because the bike suddenly let go without any warning. It’s a big shame because I had been really looking forward to this weekend and continuing my improvement. Today’s conditions were treacherous and all the changes of weather didn’t help at all. There was no way we could ride on the wets, so the right decisions were made.”

The accident could see Hopkins miss the next round at Donington Park this weekend. The team will make a decision later in the week on whether they need to substitute Hopper after the severity of his injury has been determined.

If I was Hopper, by now, I'd seriously be starting to think that someone upstairs is trying to tell me something...is there ANYTHING else that could go wrong for him?

Get well soon Hopper (we all seem to be saying this FAR too much)...

Got to agree, the guys got talent but he's really not had luck on his side since he's got back into it!

Even his wildcards in GP got scuppered. I wish him well for recovery and hope he's back fighting soon.

And yes, it does seem to be happening far too much. Quite a few of these have been down to frankly idiotic decisions to race when suitable tyres are simply not available.

I know it sucks for the spectators, but if the weather is simply not providing a reasonably environment to race in, some form of alternative, be it a total cancel or shift of date have to be available.

As for the well that's no good for the spectacle of it crew. Neither is having half the grid walking wounded, not racing at all, or worse, not going home that night.

Sure, it's dangerous, but someone shouldn't die because of the stupidity of accountants.

At 55 my broken ankles - dislocated hips and the plate with 6 screws in my neck, all act like a weather vane.
I still ride but I know I have to stop hitting the ground !

Well Hell, that's racing. He's done alright out of it. Hopskin was supposed to be the messiah, but he's just a very naughty boy.

He certainly WAS pyndman, no doubt. BUT, he's turned that all around, and you've simply GOTTA admire that.
