LEON HASLAM topped the timesheets in the first day of WSB testing at Valencia, with James Toseland pitching in the third fastest time of the day.
Warm temperatures and a dry track greeted the riders at the 4.005km Spanish circuit, as the two-day test got underway.
Haslam piloted his Suzuki Alstare GSX-R1000 to a best of 1'34.5, followed closely by Aprilia's Max Biggia, who trailed the Brit by just 0.2 sec. Returning former World Superbike Champion James Toseland impressed with the third fastest time of the day, despite crashing his Sterligarda Yamaha part-way through the daylong session. Fourth fastest man Jonathan Rea (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) also fell today, but, like Toseland escaped injury.
Other Brits: Cal Crutchlow posted 1'35.1, while new Aprilia signing and current British Superbike Champion Leon Camier nailed down a 1'35.8.
A point of interest: Haslam's team-mate Sylvain Guintoli set a best of 1'36.1.
