Veteran Italian might be joining Carlos Checa on a Ducati next season
WATCHING fellow veteran and 38-year-old Carlos Checa look set to take the championship this season may have inspired Loris Capirossi to seek a move to Ducati in World Superbikes.
Before the last round at Brno Capirossi had revealed that there would be an important announcent regarding the future of his career - this was expected to be his retirement from MotoGP after 22 years.
That announcement has since been postponed and another is expected in two races time under the possibility of continuing with Ducati, but in the WSB championship.
Earlier this month Capirex told Gazzetta dello Sport: "It's complicated: I'm trying to figure out what I'll do when I grow up. Superbikes? You never know. Everything is so vague at the moment. I'm not saying I'd race there, but I'm not saying I wouldn't either."
With a new bike coming next year - in the shape of the 1199 - Ducati may be looking to increase their factory involvement in the production-based series, one potential option is the return of the Ducati MotoGP team circa 2005 bringing Capirossi over to join Checa.
