Biaggi: 'I'm blossoming, Rossi wilts'

"I was the devil, he was the smiling angel," says Biaggi

AHEAD of the Imola World Superbike round Max Biaggi, in an preview interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, took an opportunity to take a dig at his old rival Valentino Rossi

"At the beginning of my career everything was going smoothly and then Valentino Rossi arrived and I became the villain," started Biaggi. "Our rivalry was taken outside the motorcycle racing world and away from passionate racing fans, but it was a mask, people who know me well know that I’m a different person."

He added: “We’ve never tried to clear up what happened. I was the devil, he was the smiling angel, now that things aren’t going so well he doesn’t joke around like before. And you get these thoughts: like he’s a flower that is losing his petals, while I’ve blossomed again..."

Despite turning 41 this year Biaggi did not reject the idea of a return to MotoGP: “Now I’m in Superbikes, this summer I’ll think about the future. If they try hard enough, I’ll think about it." He added negotiations with Aprilia haven't started yet, "We haven’t spoken, because off track I’m not that fast.”

On the claims that the Aprilia RSV4 the Roman Emperor is a MotoGP bike disguised as a World Superbike, he said: “In Australia I was pushed off at the first corner and I didn’t gain anything on Checa who was leading, Ducati is the reference, before accusing anyone they’d better look in their own home. In 2010 I won, last season Checa won: we’ll see who’s better.”

You wish you were viewed as the devil, childish whiney little cunt who blamed every thing but him self for his pitfalls is far more accurate

Talking about selective "journalism". I did not expect visordown to lower themselves to this level. I guess news is slow these days?
This is absolutely rubbish, so you guys at visordown just selective quote in the wrong context?
How about you guys also quoting Biaggi saying that he has empathy for Rossi, as he understands how Rossi must feel?

"I know what he is going through. You get out on the bike and the times just aren't coming. You spend entire days thinking about what exactly is going wrong. Sometimes you are even getting beat by riders on the satellite version of your same bike. The tension just builds and builds and builds. I won't be easy for him to come out of this."
At leat gpone soundly quotes Biaggi.

I'd like to see Biaggi try and keep up with Casey & Jorge!

If Rossi went to WSBK he'd whip you Max, so I wouldn't speak too loudly if I was you. I doubt Rossi would go to superbikes though, but you never know if the Duc dont work out this year he might just.

Oh, and good point Jules. the media loves to quote Max as the mad boy and will edit and take statements out of context, which suck really, you shouldn't do that.

Biaggi is "blossoming" in a series that as of late (Spies excluded) has been a forum for older world championship riders to prolong their careers. I'm positive Edwards would be winning races if not challenging for the title if he had gone back to World Superbikes. Look who won last year... Carlos bloody Checa; the king of running up crash counts his entire career in 500s and in MotoGP. I definitely enjoy WSBK as much as the next guy (My first ever motorcycle race was the 2002 round at Laguna Seca) but Max is just trying to coax the embers of a once interesting story in the Italian media back to life.

Anyone who thinks Rossi has shot his load already is a MUG, the bike is shit the riders not. Biaggi can chew his bollocks all he likes but hes just an angry short person - or twat as we call them in Portsmouth.

Don't make me laugh Biaggi - that's gonna backfire big time in your face - what a big tarts windowbox having a pop at Rossi when Rossi is still coming to terms with running over Simoncellis head. I hope Biaggi does return cos re-lighting that fuse again was a big mistake - Rossi punched him in the face last time Biaggi was in Moto gp
