Biaggi clocks 203mph at Monza

But he's still 14mph down on Pedrosa's 2009 Mugello top speed

ROMAN EMPEROR Max Biaggi clocked an amazing 203mph on his Aprilia RSV4 WSB racer in the first Superbike Free Practice session at Monza, ahead of this weekend's World Superbike action.

The Italian achieved the double-ton on the 1 km long Monza pit straight; Biaggi's efforts were enough to slot him into sixth place on the timesheets.

Think that's fast? Dani Pedrosa (aka Pedrobot) cracked out 217mph on his 800cc Honda RC212V MotoGP bike during Free Practice for last year's Italian GP at Mugello.

When asked about his efforts, 2mph faster than a Formula One car, Pedrobot said in his usual dry style: “Top speed is not the most important thing. The lap time is more critical.”
