Video: Guy Martin's crash on road racing return

A tangle with another rider brings Martin down on lap one at Tandragee

HERE'S the moment Guy Martin took a tumble at the Tandragee 100 road racing meeting in Northern Ireland on Saturday.

The TV personality escaped uninjured after tangling with another rider on the first lap of the Open Superbike Race.

Martin was making his return to road racing for the first time since suffering vertebrae and sternum fractures in a crash at the Dundrod 150 in 2015.

The Lincolnshire rider, competing for Honda, slid off at the Marlacoo corner on Saturday.

Paul Jordan, the other rider in the tangle, was also uninjured.

Dublin rider Derek Sheils finished 14 seconds ahead of William Dunlop to take victory in the opening Superbike race, with Derek McGee third.

The event was later abandoned in heavy rain and following the injury of a rider in the senior support class, meaning no supertwin or main superbike race.

Martin's road racing return is set to continue at the Cookstown 100 this weekend, followed by the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT.
