FORMER INDEPENDENT Kawasaki team Hayate may be about to get thrown a lifeline for 2010 by Yamaha.

It's reported the team can be saved from extinction by an agreement to lease engines from Yamaha.

If successful, the idea would be a prototype for the lease scheme promised for 2011.
