Yamaha interested in Stefan Bradl

German Moto2 front-runner at the top of the shopping list for Yamaha

THE current Moto2 championship leader Stefan Bradl has courted interest from Yamaha for a move to MotoGP in 2012.

The idea behind the acquistition of the German to ride for Yamaha next season was reported in Speedweek, with the consideration for Bradl to join the Tech 3 squad, alongside Cal Crutchlow.

Yamaha Motor Racing MD Lin Jarvis said: "Bradl is a very interesting rider for us, and Germany is a very important market for Yamaha."

Father, Helmut Bradl was on hand at the Jerez round speaking to various teams and manufacturers about the possibility of running his son next year, discussiong about a place with Yamaha Tech 3 or a Honda satellite team.

Bradl has three poles from three races along with two wins at Qatar and Estoril. Bradl himself commented: "Tech 3 is one of the few teams interested in me making the step up to MotoGP, but it’s not something I want to think too much about at the moment."

With Tech 3 aiming to continue as Yamaha's secondary team in 2012 the question is where does Colin Edwards feature in the proposed line-ups; Crutchlow is secure in a two-year contract deal and Yamaha have been reported as having no interest in fielding anymore bikes.
