Yamaha announces full seamless gearbox for 2015

Seamless-shift gearbox to be used from start of 2015 MotoGP season

YAMAHA will use a full seamless-shift gearbox on the YZR-M1 starting at the beginning of the 2015 MotoGP season, the firm has announced.

In a press conference in Japan, Takaaki Kimura, Vice President of Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd, said 'During the second Sepang test, we were able to confirm the performance of our seamless gearbox.

'However we must keep on developing the chassis and electronics to utilise it to its full potential. We will continue to work on the set-up at the upcoming test in Qatar, while aiming for the victory at the first round of the 2015 season in Qatar later this month.'

While developing the 2015 YZR-M1, Yamaha focused technical upgrades such as a full seamless-shift for both up-shifts and down-shifts.
