Toseland MotoGP dream 'not over'

Yamaha bigwig admits that Toseland could possibly stay in MotoGP, despite Tech 3 split

JAMES TOSELAND'S MotoGP dream might NOT be over, according to one of the senior Yamaha men.

Nigel Bosworth, former 250GP star and now Race Director for Yamaha UK, has let slip that Toseland is still in talks with MotoGP teams despite having lost his Tech 3 ride.

Bosworth also hinted that Toseland's manager, former WSB and BSB rider Roger Burnett, has spent the weekend at Imola talking to team bosses about a ride for the Brit in 2010.

Bosworth said: "James is talking to other teams in MotoGP at the moment so he might be able to find a ride and stay in the championship. At the moment it's not a done deal that he is going back to WSB. There are deals on the table that both sides are considering."

It's reported Dorna, the governing body of MotoGP, are keen to keep a British connection within MotoGP. They're also keen to boost the flagging numbers of bikes on the MotoGP grid and are keen to get bums on seats in satellite teams.

Whats all this business about the BBC having a clause in the motogp contract which could save Toseland, something about a british rider must be on the grid.

No offense to JT but isn't that slightly unfair to everyone else whos lost a ride simply because they don't have the backing of  a media giant?

I read something by someone from beeb t'other day saying that there is enough interest just with Rossi & Lorenzo in moto gp

Toseland is an amazing rider, he's just had a bad season due to his highsides at the begining of the season. I think that yamaha are being unfair and should sack edwards as he's probably only got a season or two left in him!

Well u say Toseland having an unfair advantage, look a Talmasci, the only reason he got the ride was because he's hungarian, he should not be in moto gp this year

There are always policitcal motives involved at the top level of any sport and ti seems JT is a pawn in a political game at the moment. We would all rather see him on top form in WSB where he's at home than making up the numbers in MotoGP, surely?

Danny Pepper

I agree, toseland is an amazing rider hes just had a bad season...

i really believe he could be motogp champ if .....

A he were to have a good season

B everybody else decided motogp wasnt for them and left the series to becomes pizza delivery boys.

then i think the mighty james might be in with a shot!

And yes Danny i also agree with you that tech 3 should sack the most competative satelite rider in the championship today and stick with james's excuses as to why he didnt win/ get a top 6

Isn't Talmasci  riding because he happened to arrive at a struggling team with a stack of cash? The fact he's Hungarian hasn't really got anything to do with it except that the cash came from the new hungaroring circuit.

That should of course be Balatonring circuit NOT Hungaroring

I want to see JT back in WorldSBK winning more championships, I think he could beat foggys record.

Posted: 01/10/2009 11:38

You know what JT should of been given one more chance. Remeber Troy Bayliss had a good forst year, but pretty bad second year. and lets not get started with the third year, him on the Honda machine.

Colin Edwards. He ahs been in the Motogp class for awhile, yet the man hasn't won a race He also took couple of seasons to start showing consistant result. Personally I think he needs to go. I mean repect to the guy. The Supernike season with Troy bayliss and Colin Edwards was one of the best. But he just doesn't seem to have the hunger anymore, where JT who really wants it. I think he should go to Moto 2. Nothing to prove in Superbikes. He ahs won it twice. You say beating Foggy record. well.... yeah but Foggy is Foggy....

Sorry to say this, he just ain't good enough to be in MotoGP. A classic case of WSB champ makes the jump up just hangs on and jumps back down. We'll see if Spies can break the trend. Bayliss did the best job at the challenge. Edwards should be replaced by one of this years top 250 riders.

That's my view anyway.
