MOTOGP will head to the Circuit of The Americas in Texas in 2013.
The circuit has agreed a deal with Dorna to host the event on the 19th to 21st of April 2013. It will be the third round of the eighteen round championship.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, chief executive officer for Dorna Sports, commercial rights holder for the MotoGP series said: “We are excited to be working with Circuit of The Americas to expand our programming in the United States and bring our series to an exceptional new Grand Prix facility in Texas. We see tremendous opportunities to market MotoGP and grow its fan-base through this agreement".
Kevin Schwantz sued The Circuit of The Americas earlier this year after a diagreement over promotion of the MotoGP event. Schwantz was planning to promote the MotoGP race at the circuit through his company, 3fourTexasMGP LLC and he claimed an agreement running from 2013 to 2022 had been in place since 2011 however The Circuit of The Americas denies he ever had a deal to promote a MotoGP race. The case is ongoing.
