MONSTER TECH 3 MotoGP boss Herve Poncharal has said he can't see a situation where 800cc engines will race against 1000cc motors in MotoGP from 2010.
Speaking to David Emmett at Motomatters.com, Poncharal, who's also IRTA's representative on the GP Commission, says it makes no sense for any manufacturer to take on a larger capacity prototype engine with a smaller; the Tech 3 boss believes a number of 1000cc prototypes are already under development.
"Everyone understands that the future of MotoGP is 1000cc, so the earlier you start, the better you will be," Poncharal told Emmett.
"I feel, it's only a feeling, that one of them, maybe more, will be ready to race with a 1000cc prototype, and if one is doing it, then all them will have to do it. So maybe, already, from 2012, the 800cc won't be a problem any more, because out of the rules we already have, you could almost already delete the 800cc."
Makes sense, eh? You can bet the big payers are already developing a monster 1000cc lump for 2010.
Bring it on!
