FOLLOWING Alvaro Bautista's impressive 5th place at last weekend's Malaysia GP, Visordown's MotoGP man has learned Suzuki is to field just one rider in next year's MotoGP World Championship.
The Rizla squad, who have endured a poor string of results over the last few years, are to lose one rider for 2011 but will return with two riders in 2012, when the new 1000cc MotoGP regulations kick in.
The news surfaced ahead of any offical announcement after almost half the current team have been told they will not have jobs for next year.
Following meetings between Suzuki management and Dorna chief Carmelo Ezpeleta after last weekend’s Japanese GP, Dorna has waived the contracted two-rider agreement in exchange for guarantees of a full-scale return.
The team will continue with Alvaro Bautista riding alone in 2011.
