Stoner ... 'not sure' of the level of Moto2 riders

CASEY Stoner has said that Marc Marquez may need to relax a little when he joins the MotoGP class.

Talking about the man who's filling his seat at Repsol Honda in 2013, Stoner said: "I don’t think Marc will ask me for any advice. In fact, he probably considers himself a little better than I am, because he has a lot of confidence in himself and his abilities. I think he may need to relax a little, because this category is not so easy."

Stoner said he wasn't sure how the MotoGP rookie would fare in his first season and said: "I'm not sure about the level of Moto2. We can see that he is at a much higher level than other riders, but I’m not sure about the level of his rivals. We have not seen a Moto2 rider come up to this championship with much success."

Talking about Stefan Bradl who has stepped up to the MotoGP class this year, Stoner said: "Bradl has had a couple of decent results, but I made mistakes in those races so maybe things have looked a little better than they are really."

After that, we can't imagine Marquez or Bradl will be asking Uncle Casey for any advice next season.

A year ago I would have been saying how I think Stoner is a condescending prick, but after all the drama and theatrics in MotoGP now, I actually like his no B/S style and honest opinions.

God I wish he wasn't leaving. But the fact that he turned down $10m makes me respect him even more!

What is there that ISN"T condescending about what he's saying?

Bradl only did well because "I made a mistake"??? Let's talk about my favourite subject: "ME!!!!"

He's just got better at hiding his BS. I'm sure if Lorenzo crashed and he won, he'd say "Well he made a mistake and I didn't, so I was the better racer on the day."

One set of rules for him and another for everyone else. I hope he quickly fades away.

Stoner is a great rider but, he has won his championships on the best bikes. Will miss his racing but not him.

AKORN - I get what you're saying, Casey did have a speed advantage in 2008, and a great Honda last year, but were any of his team mates in contention for the title in either of those years?

Frankly, I'm amazed anyone got an opinion out of him. I thought he hated talking to the press / fans / anyone.

Casey....ofcourse u dnt have the slightest clue of the level of Moto2. Maybe u should get sandwiched between Marc and Andrea to know that, dont worry..we wont blame you for moaning after that...:)

As somebody of a similar mindset, I can fully empathise with a preference for being respected for stating hard truths rather than being considered a forerunner in a popularity contest. Nobody likes to hear whingeing (which he can often be guilty of) but this is simply stating a considered, if unpopular opinion. An opinion, by the way, that he is fully entitled and qualified to make.

I think you're all the moaners. You all must like the generic response given by sports people in interview, as they are trained to do. Bores me shitless, but nevermind, Im glad somebody likes it. Stoner is clearly one of the greatest riders of all time, and that qualifies him to say a lot more than you guys.

Calm down dear, it's only a website..............

Pyndman, you must like the generic comments given by people brought up to not questions things... :0)

Well, at least someone likes them...

Stacey's mouth is inversely proportional to his riding talent. He must have learnt his diplomatic style from Mick Doohan and Dame Edna.
Now if you want a really honest opinion, ask Colin Edwards. He knows how to do it and smile for the sponsors at the same time.

; xfd.kjgvgm bfgmj I always wonder what Stacey is like with her indoors.
Come on luv, you call that a good lookin baby. I know I was there when we made it but really you baked it eh.
After sex. I know I did not make it in before comin but hey if you weren't so good lookin none of that would happen. Or is this the wrong forum again.

stoner does not have to answer to anyone,he is simply one of the best motorcycle riders you will ever see in your lifetime ( and calls a spade a spade)perhaps ducati regret not retaining him as they surely underestimated how well he had actually 'fought' with their machine unlike the 'other'guy.personally i hope there is a change of heart on the retirement front as the sport certainly needs riders of this calibre.
