Stoner: 'I do not give up so easily'

Stoner in confident form despite being 32-points adrift of Lorenzo

CASEY Stoner has talked about that Sachsenring crash and his title hopes in a recent interview.

Talking about the Sachsenring race, where he crashed out of second place on the last lap at the second to last corner, Stoner said: "To be honest, I was very happy with the position that I was in. I was planning my attack for the last corner, where I was much better at braking than Dani, with much more confidence, and when I released the brake a little early on the previous corner to go easy on the tyre, I think I was too soft and didn’t load the front enough. I crashed and I was very surprised about that, because I was very confident about overtaking. In the end, I messed up our championship in that one moment. It wasn’t the best way to finish off a weekend.”

When asked if the crash and his result in Italy had lead people to write off his chances of another championship, he said: "They always do, even last year. When we were not ahead in the championship, they forgot about us. Every year I have a couple of bad races and people forget too quickly. You must remember what we do, that I'm World Champion and I do not give up so easily."

This guy is always so negative. He keeps on talking bad talks and therefore people will always adress him that way... what a moaner...

Posted: 01/08/2012 at 23:42

well if you actually look Lone Star you'll see its a pretty interesting comment - he didnt go as hard and so the front went. Thats interesting. I think you might be the negative one?

Retiring is not giving up.

He was asked a negative question. Expect a negative answer.

I think Stoner underestimated the calculated pace of Pedrosa on the last corners of Sachsenring. Simple as that.

I think when things don't go the way Stoner would like in a race or qualifying, he would be much better off to save the critical analysis for his team crew, not the media. Much more acceptable to say "things didn't go our way, but that's racing".

Exactly, he admits to making a mistake and states he'll still give it the berries to try and win. Good luck to him....

he does have a bad attitude

for instance, the incident at mugello when he almost took Bautista out. if it had been the other way around he would have been making statments in the press about how dangerous he was

but because he does it ... not a word

i watched a short film the other day about his defeat at laguna in 2008 he was complaining there was alot that went on in that race that the cameras didnt pick up ....yeah right!

his statments about racing Danny and Jorge, no mentio of Rossi wreak of small mindedness

adios moaner

Adios moaner +1

Fact is that Pedrosa forced him into an error, ergo was the better rider on the day.

Can't wait till 2013 when we'll be rid of him

Your fans are with you Casey.

Said it before, and I'll say it for one more time, will miss watching him ride a bike. Won't miss him.

He's a country boy from outback NSW. He doesn't give a shit about appearing to be a 'popular personality in the paddock', he just loves racing. And fishing and hunting. He's a nice lad and an incredible talent. Have to say it's bloody amusing reading an endless load of whinging Poms whinge about Stoner being a moaner! :O)

Posted: 08/08/2012 at 04:20

Now here's a whinger from the land that does them best:

"Charles Lawrence Somerset Clarke, an old Etonian member of Team GB, has claimed he would have been a better Olympic athlete had he not gone to one of Britain’s leading public schools."

That's the difference between Rossi and Stoner. Rossi can consistently pull out that little bit extra from where everyone thinks it's not possible and not crash. Stoner exceeds his limitations sometimes and crashes. He went in too hot and tucked the front end, what he was thinking only he will ever know.
