Simoncelli: 'I've always been fast at Sachsenring'

Italian hot-shot is out to prove what he's got in Germany

MARCO Simoncelli - never too far away from controversy - is the first to start the mind-games ahead of the German MotoGP round at Sachsenring this coming weekend.

The Italian rider said: "Sachsenring is a circuit I like a lot, I have always been fast there in 125 and in 250, in fact I won the 250 races there in 2008 and 2009."

Simoncelli kept a clean-sheet at Mugello, finishing a slightly lack-lustre 5th, despite qualifying on the front row.

However, the young Italian's fastest lap was just 0.096 seconds slower than Casey Stoner at the post-race test the following day, showing he's got the outright pace needed to win, if not the consistency.

It appears that Simoncelli has pushed away the memories of Assen and Silverstone and is back to his self-confident best ahead of the Sachsenring race this weekend.

Why do I get the feeling we're going to watch Marco's RCV pirouetting into the gravel at the Omega curve at 13:01 on Sunday????

I hope not.................
