DANI Pedrosa finished day 2 of the Sepang test at the top of the time-sheets with a 2:00.039, 1.12 seconds faster than the time the Repsol Honda rider set yesterday after he admitted he was struggling with jet lag.
Aleix Espargaro led for most of the afternoon as he concentrated on race simulation until Pedrosa took to the top near the end of the day, but the CRT champion continued to impress finishing 0.281s off the Pedrosa’s time.
Although finishing yesterday with the fastest time, Alvaro Bautista finished in third managing to shave 0.348s off the time he set yesterday.
Finishing 0.566s behind Repsol Honda’s leading man was Valentino Rossi who has taken quicker to the new 2014 Bridgestone compounds than his team-mate Jorge Lorenzo who finished in ninth, 1.01s off the pace of Pedrosa, as corner speed was affected.
As the GP14 shows improvement, Andrea Dovizioso finished day 2 in fifth, whereas Ducati team-
Yamaha Tech 3 now have the new seamless gearbox which both riders started to use yesterday. Bradley Smith finished in tenth improving his time from day one by 0.564s. However, Pol Espargaro was unable on his time he set yesterday despite only being 0.028s slower.
Testing continues on Friday which will conclude the second Sepang test.
