VALENTINO ROSSI took his 46th win for Fiat Yamaha MotoGP this weekend, by winning the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang.

After making a poor start from the second row, the Italian fought his way through the pack from 9th place to dominate the race in blistering style.

After leading the 20-lap race for a while, Repsol Honda man Andrea Dovizioso settled for second position after an impressive display of gutsy riding, sticking with Rossi all the way to the chequered flag.

Rossi's, team-mate Jorge Lorenzo finished in third, and in doing so claimed the 2010 MotoGP World Championship.

Valentino Rossi

"This is a wonderful moment for me, I am so happy to win like this and take my 46th win with Yamaha on ‘my' M1. It was one of my worst starts and for a moment I was really worried, but within a few corners I understood that I could go for it, because my bike felt great today thanks to a small change we made in warm-up, Jeremy's idea really worked! I rode so well and it was a fantastic race, one of the best of my career I think. I wanted this 46th win so much because as everyone knows it's a special number for me!

"Thanks to my team because everyone worked so hard this weekend and I think this is a great repayment for everyone. To win like this, from 11th at the first corner, is a great feeling.

"Finally I want to say congratulations to Yamaha and to Jorge; he has been fast all season, at all tracks and in all conditions and he deserves to be the World Champion."

First of all congrats to Lorenzo.

That was a phenomenal old-school race from Valentino, he really deserved to win this race. I think he's already preparing his rivals for the next year when he's wearing the red suit and top fit.

Is it me or have you all seen the reaction of Lorenzo as Vale congratulated him in parc ferme? he barely looked him in the eyes and he didn't even respond to vale's handshake.. that was a weird stuff.

I thought jorge has become more sympathic and nicer, but he's the old arrogant bastard. I am just sick of his fake show stuff.. its so boring imitated.

He was actually 11th at exit of the first corner not 9th ... it was a class ride though for sure , Jorge did all he had to do and Spies and Bautista were class too, if only all the races were sweltering the Suzuki would be a consistent top 5 bike, as it was no slouch in a straight line.

Congrats to Lorenzo. He has had a phenomenal season. Next year would be the real test. With hopefully all riders healthy and fit to fight for the championship.

Rossi's performance was epic. He hunted everyone down. He owns this track. What a great win..No. 46 for No. 46. I think Spies performance was awesome too. Jorge is gonna have another brilliant team mate next season. Lets see how that one goes

Yes congrats to Lorenzo, phenomenal season my arse. Lorenzo has won this championship by default through injuries to others, uncompetitive machinery from all but Ducati and Yamaha. This reminds me of Nicky Haydens championship.

What happens as soon as he is put in his place by a still injured Rossi in Japan, he starts crying foul and calls Rossi crazy!! Lorenzo now firmly believes his own press, is an arrogant twat who would come second to De Puniet, Spies, Rossi, even Simoncelli and Bautista if they were on the same bike. Count your blessings Mr Lorenzo, your machinery is superior but you are ordinary I am afraid and Valentino AND Stoner will kick your butt next year, as will Spies. You had best get used to finishing off the podium!
