Rossi will make his first appearance in red with start of his contract with Marlboro Ducati

Valentino Rossi will finally face off against 2x Formula One champion Fernando Alonso albeit in four wheels and on ice.

The clash will take place at the annual Vrooom event, where Marlboro Ducati and Ferrari share the limelight to launch their latest team line-ups.

Taking place on the 10th of January, the conference is usually combined with a 'Challenge Exhibition' between the Ducati riders and Ferrari drivers, taking place on the ice in go-karts and 4x4 Fiat Pandas. Last year Nicky Hayden impressed with his karting abilities on ice with Felipe Massa taking honours in the Fiat Panda.

Rossi once proposed a challenge to Alonso, that the two would race over three separate disciplines; MotoGP, F1 and Rally to discover who was ultimately the fastest, after Alonso was left unimpressed by MotoGP champion's times from his 2006 test session in the Ferrari F1 car.

2011's iteration of the Vrooom launch will also give fans their first opportunity to view the latest Marlboro Ducati livery and witness the first, long-awaited, appearance of Rossi in red.

Alonso, cheating, whinging, self important twerp. Lets see him on a Moto GP bike, and see just how "unimpressed" everyone is with him. I hope Vale, stuffs him in all the races they have.

"cheating, whinging, self important twerp".

Well, they should make a good pair!

Really hoping that Vale gives AlCuntonso his come uppance good and hard. I'd like to see the twat getting anywhere near Vale's lap times and still being sane.

Lets see. Rossi whines whenever anyone dares to ride as rough with him as he's so fond of doing with others. Rossi cheats when he passes Hayden under yellow flags at Phillip Island and the worthless marshals let him do it because, well, he's Rossi. Rossi cheats when he slams into Gibernau in the last corner of Jerez. Rossi cheats when he intentionally cuts the corner at the cork screw to make an extremely dangerous pass.

Rossi is a punk, pure and simple.
