REIGNING MOTOGP World Champion Valentino Rossi is to make an appeal to MotoGP race organisers to bring forward the start of the Qatar night race, due to run Sunday 11th April, because of the dangerous nightime track conditions.
Rossi, who's previously voiced concerns over the night race, believes the humidity and subsequent moisture on the track, makes the circuit slippery; a condition, Rossi believes, could be alleviated with a different start time. It's worth noting Stoner, Hayden, Simoncelli, Melandri, Spies, Edwards, Kallio and Espargaro all recently crashed during nightime testing at Losail.
Rossi, who described night racing as “getting on his nerves”, will speak directly with Carmelo Ezpeleta about his concerns.
"Television is important, but rider safety is what matters most,” said Rossi.
Reminds us of Barry Sheene's attitude towards GP safety in the 70s and 80s.
