Rossi: "Stoner is not the next Valentino"

MotoGP World Champion rates Lorenzo, but wishes he'd cleared off to Honda

VALENTINO ROSSI has said that the next Rossi is likely to be Jorge Lorenzo, NOT former MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner.

The Italian has also ruffled a few feathers in the Yamaha camp by saying the he wanted Lorenzo to jump ship and go to Honda.

Rossi said: “A new Valentino could not be Stoner, because when he wins there is not the enthusiasm. It can come like that though from Lorenzo.  Frankly I hoped that he would leave the Yamaha for Honda, because a more interesting championship would have been made. Instead if he stays with Yamaha it will still make good racing between two pilots: the management is not simple, but the inner rivalry improves the product.”

I agree.  I like Stoner, but I'm still waiting for the next dose of 'Lorenzo's Land'.  After all, sport is supposed to be entertainment...

This is just Rossi messing with Lorenzo's head. He's already gotto him on the track, now he's trying to make Lorenzo feel better about himself so he continues the self doubt on track.

The guy is a genius at  destroying his opposition

Stoner just does not have the charisma that 'vale' has & lets face out of all of these young guns which one on them has the crown for all classes - 125's, 250's 500's & moto gp & with different bikes

think britain needs a new sheene to come through looks like one of the 250 boys will next big champion though the way racing going with electronic aids they will never be another rossi dont think eletric bike racing will be as exciting because something will have to give laws off physics ie bike to quick for our brains

the saddest thing is, i think he's right, Stoner is a phenomenal rider, probably more skilled than Rossi, but you always get the feeling that he hasn't put his heart into his racing, maybe in a year, or two or three, when he finds the desire to win, everyone will see how terrific he really is... I dont think Stoner wants to be the next valentino anyway. More like, the next Mick Doohan.

Cal Crutchlow - he'll learn about bike setup in moto 2 next year and then watch out in 2 years time when he arrives in moto gp!

he's correct, stoner will never be the next rossi, for starters he's not gay.

What is gay having to do with riding a motorbike? Stoner does not have the personality and I agree enthusiasm...Jorge yes, for sure a better candidate!

I dunno what to make of all this. If IF Suzuki do go the CRT route, I reckon it would be a bit of a shame. But I can understand the reasons,...
