Rossi races a GT3 Ferrari

Rossi takes on the big boys at Monza

VALENTINO Rossi has spent the weekend racing a Ferrari 458 GT3 in the Blancpain Endurance Series.

Rossi teamed up with best friend Alessio 'Uccio' Salucci, they qualified 10th out of 55 drivers, with a best lap time just 2.8 seconds off pole.

The race was wet and the pair were in the top 10 for the first hour but Uccio got caught-up with a backmarker 90 minutes into the race and by the end of the second hour, the pair were in 29th place.

In the last stint, Rossi drove hard and managed to finish in 18th place (9th in the Pro-Am class).

Rossi said about his Endurance adventure: "It's one of my great passion because also when I grow up with Graziano he race with rally car and always bring me with rally car but for me I think maybe for my future if I wanna make some racing with the car it is better on the track, because for me on the track I have a lot more experience and it is very much more similar to MotoGP. Rally is another thing. Here you talk about lines, braking, rhythm. Rally is more control the car on the gravel, slide and are able to go 100% with the voice of the co-driver. Here you are alone and for me it's more easy."

This won't be the last we see of Rossi on four wheels.
