REIGNING MOTOGP World Champion Valentino Rossi has quashed rumours he was seriously considering moving to Ducati for 2010, stating he 'does not want to' race for the Italian manufacturer.

There has been much speculation over the last few months that the Ducati MotoGP team, along with the backing of the squad's title sponsor Malrboro, have been working on luring the eight-time world champ away from Yamaha with a big money offer. Rossi, however, has denied the allegations.

"Honestly, I do not understand why," said Rossi, ahead of this weekend's Australian GP. "It is 100 percent impossible because I have a contract with Yamaha. Therefore, it is not possible to go to Ducati next year, but also because I do not want to!"

Why would he want to leave the bike he's developed into the best all around in the world?  Ducati is a mess that only Stoner can ride.  Its a career killer.  Ask the other 90% of riders who have swung a leg over it and seen their results come to nothing.  Ducati would have to commit to redeveloping that bike into something that everyone can have success on, not just one man.  That is the mark of a good bike.

If Ducati wanted Rossi, they should have started asking him years ago...before all the struggle and development with Yamaha.  Now Ducati is left with a quick bike - but one that no one in the world can ride except one guy who's out sick at the moment.

I'm pretty sure that Ducati were after Rossi before he moved to Yamaha and it was considered but dropped 'cos Ducati wanted Rossi to do too much PR stuff for Vale's liking. Defn a missed opportunity as far as Ducati is concerned and Yamaha have certainly benefitted in the meantime.

I dunno what to make of all this. If IF Suzuki do go the CRT route, I reckon it would be a bit of a shame. But I can understand the reasons,...
