WET weather appears to bring out the best in the Ducati Desmosedici GP12, as Valentino Rossi admits to hoping for rain ahead of the next round at Assen.

Silverstone was a tough race for the Italian as he slipped back from the progress made at Barcelona. Ahead of the Dutch TT he said: "For the moment, we can only work on the setup to prepare the bike as we try to return to the level that we had attained prior to Silverstone, which was a very difficult race.

"We were a bit better at Barcelona and during the dry sessions at Le Mans, so we must at least regain that pace. If it should also happen to rain, we know that we can be more competitive."

In the rain at Le Mans Rossi was able to score his best finish on the Ducati, finishing second in the French GP.
