VALENTINO ROSSI has launched a scathing attack on the current 800cc MotoGP machines, saying that bringing them in to replace the booming 990cc machines was a huge error.
The eight-time World Champion has been speaking to the Spanish press about the differences between the 500cc two-stroke GP bikes, the 990cc four-stroke versions and the current 800s.
He said: "For me the spectacle when we were on the 990s was very strong, it was the same when we were on the 500s too. There were great battles and great skill needed to tame these machines.
"The first time I rode them I thought there was too much power, that these would be hard motorcycles to master but then I had to tell myself that I had to master them, to learn how to use the power.
"On the 500 and 990 the battles were great and isn't that what the public wants? The bikes spun the back wheel as much coming out of the corner as they did going in.
"But with the 800... I believe that the 800s are the greatest error of the World Championship in the last 15 years. A lot of the spectacle of riding has been lost because on them the electronics have advanced so much.
"For me the manufacturers committed a great error in coming from 990 to 800cc."
Come on Valentino, tell us what you really think. We're not quite sure if you're getting genuinely fed-up with the MotoGP world.
Bet the F1 championship, where they're stripping driver aids off the cars more and more each season, is starting to look mighty fine for 2011, eh?
