THE MOTOGP RIDERS have been lapping the Valencia circuit all day as part of the post-season tests with Lorenzo currently leading the timesheet as of 14:30 (GMT).
The 2010 Champion has clocked a 1:32.511 lap and is closely followed by his new team-mate Ben Spies, who is making the most of the factory Yamaha machinery lapping just three tenths behind. Another rider to open his 2011 campaign impressively is Casey Stoner. As part of the recently announced three-man Repsol team, Stoner's best time currently places him in third.
In his first appearance with Ducati, Valentino Rossi has been quietly plugging away on the black and day-glo yellow Desmosedici and has the eighth fastest time, 1.371 behind Lorenzo.
British rookie Cal Crutchlow is currently down in 14th position in his first official laps with the Tech 3 Yamaha with a 1:34.924 lap.
