MotoGP: Kallio out of US GP

Damaged left hand prevents Finnish point-scorer from competing at Laguna Seca

MIKA KALLIO has been sidelined for the US round of MotoGP at Laguna Seca due to injuries sustained to his left hand during the Assen crash in the Dutch TT.

The Finnish rider seriously damaged a finger on his left hand when he crashed during his last-lap dice with Britain's James Toseland. It's expected Kallio will have surgery on the damaged digit in the near future.

Pramac Racing have decided not to replace Kallio at Laguna Seca, so Italian Niccolò Canepa will be the the only rider competing for the satellite Ducati team.

Mika Kallio: "I was excited about the race at Laguna Seca. We have taken this decision together with the heads of the team and I think that is probably the best solution."

Niccolò Canepa? I can just imagine how he will go at Laguna. They really showed have drafted an American rider to fill in for Kallio for at least some feed back on the beast.

It's a shame, he's shown some promise this season.

Looked painful though, he was clutching it before he'd finished sliding.
