Marquez terminates merchandising contract with Rossi's apparel company

Marc Marquez reportedly ends ties with Rossi by moving merchandise production away from VR46 Racing Apparel

MARC Marquez has reportedly terminated his merchandising contract with Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Racing Apparel company.

According to a report on German motorsport website Speedweek, this is the latest way the tension between Rossi and Marquez is being played out following the riders' exchange of worlds and the subsequent collision at last season's Malaysian GP.

As well as having financial implications for Rossi's VR46 business, it could also cost Marquez if he's trying to get out of an existing contract with VR46. The Spanish website Motocuatro suggests this may be the case, saying that that Marquez wants nothing to do with Rossi, and is willing to pay to make that happen.

Marquez has reportedly got GP Racing Apparel, who take care of merchandise for riders including Jorge Lorenzo, Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone, to handle his merchandising for the future.

It’s not hard to guess why Marquez has decided to cut his ties with Rossi – their relationship has broken down since the Malaysian GP and it’s likely that Marquez doesn’t want to be lining the pockets of a rider he no longer gets on with.
